Lāna`i  Animal Rescue Center (L.A.R.C.) is a 501-(c)(3) non-profit community service organization, founded in 2007.

Our mission is to assist animals on the Hawaiian island of Lāna`i  by providing sustenance, foster homes, shelter, adoptions,  veterinary care, spay/neuter services, and humane education.  

Our volunteers willingly provide hours of feeding, watering, cleaning the sanctuary, grooming, and best of all petting and cooing to the kitties.  The rewards come back ten-fold to our volunteers.

Donations are greatly appreciated and graciously accepted.  These donations, no matter the denominations, help LARC to defray the cost of paying for pet food, medicine and building materials for our new shelter. 

Our "new" permanent shelter was opened in October of  2009.  The sanctuary is a spacious open air 14,000 square foot enclosure.  This enclosure is complete with spacious cubicles for sleeping, "pallet palaces" for hiding, large 8-foot long irrigation pipes for hiding in or chasing each other through and kitty-climbing jungle gyms.  The enclosure also boasts numerous bushes, long grasses for catching zzzzz's under and trees for climbing.  Some of these trees also provide sleeping perches for those more adventuresome felines.  On many a day you can spot up to 6 or 8 cats swaying in the breeze in the crooks of the tree branches.  We are privileged to have a "purrrfect" welcoming committee greet guests when they enter this feline sanctuary.


Our furry friends, the LARC Board Members, volunteers and visitors alike continue to extend a heartfelt mahalo to Castle & Cooke Resorts for leasing us the land!  Without their generosity, we would not be the successful entity we are today.
